Levi's Vintage Clothing LVC 1915 Vault Piece 201

Available now at Union Dry Goods, this pair of LVC Vault Piece 201 is a model issued with limited number of pairs globally. It represents the second class No.2 series in LS&CO. during the year 1915. As all of us know nowadays, the 201s have become one of the best sellers of the company.

This pair of denim is the only No.2 member reissued without the existence of beltloops, since the invention of beltloops only took place in 1922. All suspender buttons are coated with rust color. A strong distressed vintage feel indeed!

You deserve a pair of denim like this (Part 2)

Julius Cesar just doesn't look right without his purple toga on. Real man just can't go without the right pair of jeans. What makes our own pair appealing? Well go through some of the important features today.

Fabric is the soul of a pair of jeans. Over decades Japanese companies have been so devoted in developing it's fabric industry by introducing advanced ways to improve the dyeing and manufacturing process. Lovely brands set up demonstrated how good the Japanese quality was. The author however has personal reservation in recent releases from Japan since the tsunami tragedy. Afterall, water is in heavy use during the manufacturing stages and we never know if the water has been contaminated! Heard of Xinjiang made selvedge was introduced in some developing oriental brands lately but the author remains a die-hard for pure US construction.

What else? Hardware talks now. Classic interpreters demand their jeans be button fly, like the originals. Fair enough, zipper fly does not relief much of the men's headache but post certain threat. Our viewpoint is in favor of button fly since it's still the best way so far to pay homage to denim's hard-laboring heritage. Suspenders buttons and cinch buckles were used before 1930's and most replicas include them for the sack of being "vintage" and most important "profitable". For daily use, however, it's the belt loops which bring "life" to your pair of denim with the pairing up of carefully selected belts.

Leg Shape also counts. There should not be any major variation in the upper thigh in the world of men's denim. Anything under the knee would decide what kind of guy you are. Straight cut or baggy design? Boot-cut or bell-bottom? Miner or painter? James Dean or Elvis Presley? Well, ancient baggy cuts tend to cover shortcoming of body built like "out knee" while straight leg fits quite well those big & tall.

For cuffs, Union Dry Goods holds the view that your jeans be with the right length for your legs. They could hang long provided the leg is wide enough, but definitely not so long as to flip them up. Remember, denim is invention of human beings. Don't let them control over you!

Speak enough and we leave the discussion of weathering of jeans next time.

Levi's Vintage Clothing LVC Year 1933 Lot 501XX, Open to offers

"We are not perfect." said Steve Jobs, soon after the new Apple iPhone 4 had found operation problems years ago.

Yes, men make mistakes, we are all human beings and we all make mistakes. Mistakes, however, sometimes create opportunities. Believe it or not?

Union Dry Goods has a pair of pre-owned factory prototype of 1933 Lot 501XX where mistakes were found in the process of manufacturing. As can suggest from the above picture, a piece of plastic tape had been misplaced on the leather tag during the ironing process and ruined the 2-horse icon. It results in the optionless disposal by the 555 Factory and sold it in the outlet with the "Every Garment Guaranteed" crossed out.

That apart, the pair of 501XX denim is in a very good shape without any other problems. The LVC 1933 series is supposed to be a flagship in the Levi's Vintage Clothing and has long been one of the best sellers since 1999. It features every lovely feature denim fans die for. Union Dry Goods is selling this pair of denim on an Open-offer basis. Any interested buyer can suggest us his best offer and we will reply within 24 hours - "Yes" or "No" or "Counter offer".

Waist: 30 inches
Inseam: 33.5 inches

Levi's Vintage Clothing LVC 1873 Duck Canvas Waist Overalls

The cotton duck cloth overalls is a replica of the closest surviving relatives of the very first pair of riveted Waist Overalls crafted by Jacob Davis in January 1871. Before denim became the more popular finish. Levi's Strauss & Co. also made overalls in cotton duck; this was probably the cause of the erroneous notion that Levi's first "denim" jeans were made of sailcloth dyed blue.
These Waist Overalls date from around 1880 and like all early Levi's , feature just one back pocket, cinch, waist buttons, no belt loops, crotch rivet, single needle stitch, early non-Two Horse Brand label, in this case centrally placed.
Denim always seemed to have been the more popular option; LS&Co. stopped making cotton duck overalls in 1911.

The Valencia construction has been recognized as an icon of top quality in LS&CO.. And now this 555 labelled Duck overalls is in Union Dry Goods. Obviously we don't need much description and the pictures tell you basically everything.

Levi's Vintage Clothing LVC 1901 Filmore 501XX Denim

Named "Filmore" after the famous music avenue in San Francisco, this pair of year 1901 denim features a unique patchwork at the knee and any other features an any antique pants should have - selvedge, cinchback, suspender buttons... LVC does it so well.
A brand new with tag, unworn item. Color is pretty dark. With medium weight 10oz selvedge used, it would be rather suitable to wear throughout the year. Quality you deserve to have!

Levi's Vintage Clothing - You deserve a pair of denim like this

Oh yeah, I mean it.
What is the real problem: you work hard, you have money and you have taste but you are not on anybody's 'A' list. Saturday night is your loneliest night in the week. Well, the right casual dress would certainly change all this. But you know, tons of clubbing guys wearing Italian tight-fits reminds us only one thing: there are too many self-Indulgent wieners in this city with too much stupid money!
Now if you are wearing a pair of 1880's Levi's Vintage Clothing waist overalls... you would not be a self-indulgent wiener, you'd be a connoisseur. Champagne would fall from the heavens. Doors would open. Velvet ropes would part...
We'll be sharing with you this and the coming articles the viewpoint of Union Dry Goods on how we choose the right pair of denim.
Denim color: dark or light?
Cowboy fans, pseudo miners and some obsessed nuts like the author require "dark" all the way, while most others would keep a spectrum of shades. Basically, what looks "good" is what the media presents as a general trend. There's nothing inherent good or bad about the color. It's just meaningless fashion, and spending cycles. The important thing is a good match. While dark denim looks a little more dressy insofar as jeans can be dressy, are you going to throw away your pair of authentic 1890's Lot 203?
